Dr Harry Zehnwirth has worked as a consultant Paediatrician in Ballarat for almost 25 years. Ballarat Paediatric Clinic was established in 2007 with the vision of providing a child health service of excellence. We would like to provide the very best service to the Ballarat and Grampians community (but all families residing in Victoria are welcome).

A referral from your doctor is always required prior to an appointment being made with one of our Paediatricians.

Infant colic or irritability occurs in at least 1 in 4 babies under 4 months. It is a distressing problem for babies, and results in parental exhaustion, frustration and sleep deprivation. Theses first few months are considered to be arguably the most stress filled in ones whole life!

Child health issues have dramatically altered in the past 20 years. There has been a ‘seismic shift’ in our understanding of kids’ behavioural disorders, and a paradigm shift in ways we can help these children and their families. Medication is no longer a dirty word, and at the same time fish oils, omega 3 fats and vitamin C seem to have a role in some children with attentional and learning difficulties.

Child allergy is on the increase exponentially. Why? Lots of theories, none yet substantiated. Ballarat Paediatric Clinic offers Skin tests (not painful; mildly uncomfortable) for children with food allergies, eczema, hives, asthma, hayfever, or a past history of anaphylaxis. Interpretation of the skin testing results is considered by the Paediatrician in the context of the child’s problems, past and family history.

The clinic boasts six highly qualified general Paediatricians; expert professionals who would like children and their families to suffer less in every possible way, and to come out of consultations with hope, a plan of management and a realistic chance of substantial improvement in their wellbeing.

Visiting Paediatric subspecialists from the Royal Children’s Hospital compliment the roles of the 6 general Paediatricians. The specialists include one gastroenterologist, one respiratory physician, one neurologist, two cardiologists and one endocrinologist.
